Schooner’s Bar & Grill’s very own Master Mixologist, Carlington Grant (better known as “Kelly”) put his many years’ experience to the test recently during the Taste of Cayman’s Seven Fathoms Rum Mixology Contest at Camana Bay. Kelly loves serving cocktails and his imagination, when it comes to putting them together by using only the very finest ingredients, really knows no bounds. The name of this particular masterpiece was “Seven 42”

“It was great to represent Cayman Turtle Centre and Schooner’s Bar & Grill,” he said. The competition was very intense, and although he didn’t gain one of the top three places, Kelly knows that you can’t always win every time: “We had 12 Bartenders and I was in the third Round,” he said. “It was a fabulous experience. There was a limit of five different ingredients that were supposed to be in the drink. It was based on one and a half ounces of Seven Fathoms rum, some fresh muddled pineapple fresh local mangoes that we get from the local mango local market. We went for a great presentation with our pineapple base. We all got a prize – seven fathoms rum gift pack full of T shirts and goodies. The judges loved the cocktail they loved the presentation.”
