Line Cook (Temporary)

Position Summary: 
The Temporary Line Cook reports to the Head Chef and works with cooks and other kitchen personnel engaged in preparing and plating all food orders in an efficient, and attractive manner. This position is open from August 2020 through February 2021.

Principal Activities & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for food preparation and following standardized recipes.
  • Ensure that all food is handled and cooked in a wholesome, sanitary manner.
  • Follow plate presentation specifications as directed.
  • Assist in kitchen inventory and ordering.
  • Provide courteous service to our guests and be cordial to all Team Members.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Maintain a consistent, regular attendance record.
  • Other duties as directed by management.

Education and Qualifications:

  • A certificate or degree from a recognized cooking school and 3 years related experience cooking for a commercial establishment, or equivalent experience.
  • Food Cooking Safety knowledge
  • Food Handlers Certificate
  • POS Experience is an asset
  • Maintaining a valid driver’s license would be an asset
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, divide all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to cook food and present it exceptionally well.
  • Previous Customer Service experience in the restaurant/hospitality industry.

Physical & Mental Demands:

  • Must work well under pressure.
  • Must be able to stand for longer than 8 hours.
  • Must be able to move 50 pounds on an intermittent basis.
  • POS Experience is an asset
  • Maintaining a valid driver’s license would be an asset
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, divide all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to cook food and present it exceptionally well
  • Previous Customer Service experience in the restaurant/hospitality industry.

This facility offers a chance for the right individual to work in one of Cayman’s leading attractions. We are offering a competitive compensation and benefits package. Remuneration will be on Grade 2 PT 4 in the range of CI$12.99- 14.69 per hour plus gratuities.
