Honouring Our Essential Workers

Feb 04, 2021 Other

We were pleased to host a very special luncheon at Schooners restaurant recently, in appreciation of all the dedicated and loyal work done by our essential crew members, both during the time of the COVID-19 lockdown, when the Centre was closed to the public, as well as in its immediate aftermath.

These exceptional crew members tirelessly looked after the Centre’s thousands of turtles and other animals, as well as keeping all the essential behind-the-scenes maintenance and infrastructural operations working smoothly, day-in and day-out. It was our pleasure to say a great big “Thank you” to the devoted team who had often made big sacrifices as they continued to put the welfare of our animals first and kept the Centre in top condition.

In recognition of their dedicated work, special certificates of appreciation and ornamental “Courage” pins were presented to the essential workers by our C.E.O Mr Tim Adam and C.O.O. Mrs Peggy Hamilton, as well as various heads of departments.

Mr Adam told crew members at the event:

“We have much to be proud of. Tales of survival and growth in adversity are very much a part of the culture and heritage of the Cayman Islands. Today we celebrate your contribution to Cayman Turtle Centre’s very own chapter in that story.

My thank-you seems so small compared to all you were able to accomplish. I am so grateful that we were able to bring you all together today and have the opportunity to truly express our gratitude to each and everyone for your outstanding contributions this year. Thank you all for making it such a special moment.”
