Cayman Turtle Centre hosts MarVet students
12Aug 2014

August 12, 2014…… The Cayman Turtle Centre: Island Wildlife Encounter isn't just the Cayman Islands' #1 land-based tourist attraction, but also a unique centre for research and education on Green sea turtles.

In mid-July, the Cayman Turtle Centre hosted marine veterinarians and veterinary students from around the world, as part of the MarVet programme. This programme gives veterinary students the opportunity to learn the biology, husbandry and veterinary care of a variety of marine creatures, including sea turtles.

During their visit to the Cayman Turtle Centre, students toured the facilities and obtained hands-on experience learning how to perform basic physical exams and sampling techniques with our Green sea turtles under the expert and watchful guidance of our resident veterinarian Dr. Martha Keller.
