Monday 10 November, 2014: The Cayman Turtle Centre (CTF) will play host to the Heritage Day for the district of West Bay on Tuesday, 11 November.
Starting at 11am, the Cayman Islands’ most visited land-based tourist attraction will be a part of the Pirates week national festival by providing a venue for the showcase of cultural and culinary traditions that is customary on the annual district Heritage Days.
Guests should come prepared to sample traditional delicacies from local food vendors, and to view demonstrations of craftwork including thatch work, rope making and much more.
In addition to visits by marauding pirates – Blackbeard and Jack Sparrow may just drop by to say hello, visitors will also enjoy a day of music by local DJs as well as live entertainment by renowned local performer “Lammy”.
The West Bay district float will be on display, as will a replica of a traditional catboat. The district of West Bay has traditionally been home to many seafarers and was a historical centre for catboat building.
Music and festivities will continue well into the evening, with a closing time of 2am. Guests will also be treated to a spectacular fireworks show.
Admission to the event is CI$5, which will get each guest a CI$5 food voucher to redeem at the local food vendor of their choice.
