Cayman Turtle Centre hosts Family Fun Day on National Heroes Day
This National Heroes Day, Monday, 22 January Cayman Turtle Centre: Island Wildlife Encounter is hosting a Family Fun Day. In an effort to make the well-known attraction accessible to as many residents as possible, the Centre is offering very special low pricing for National Heroes Day at half-off regular resident rates – just CI$5 for adults and CI$2 for children aged 5 to 12. Children aged 4 and under are admitted free or charge.
“The purpose of this event is to showcase the entire park to the local community as there is so much to experience here that many residents may still not know about. The Cayman Turtle Centre is the number-one land-based attraction with visitors to the Cayman Islands, and we want residents to see and experience all that we have to offer,” said India Narcisse-Elliott, Cayman Turtle Centre’s Acting Chief Marketing Officer.
Visitors will have access to the entire park, including the Turtle Twister waterslide, and the popular Wading Pool and Touch Tanks, where guests can interact with yearling turtles. They can also join the entertaining and informative park tours, swim with turtles and other marine life in the saltwater Turtle Lagoon, hand-feed exotic birds at the
Caribbean Free-Flight Aviary, and catch the shark feeding times at Predator Reef.
Guests can also visit Smiley’s Croc Cove, home of the Centre’s 10-foot long hybrid crocodile (called ‘Smiley’).
This year visitors have a special surprise: the whole park has been filled with beautiful sculptures of turtles, butterflies, and other animals and plants, made by one of Cayman’s top artists, Joseph Betty. The sculptures include two giant-sized iguanas that children love to sit on, a nurse shark and a fifteen-foot high banana orchid!
And It’s going to be ‘cool by the pool’ – with DJ Preston from Hot 104.1 who will be providing some of the coolest Caribbean tunes by Breakers Freshwater Lagoon, right next to Budgies – the new poolside bar – offering the coolest most colourful cocktails in on the planet. In addition, there will be lots of food and beverage specials, as well as snow-cones, and Annual Passes which can be won by guests who fill out an exit survey on their experience at Cayman Turtle Centre. Opening hours on National Heroes Day, Monday 22 January are from 8am to 5pm.
