July 14 , 2014…… Following a lively Facebook competition with lots of colourful suggestions, our soon-to-be-released Cayman Parrot chick - known as Junior 2013 although she is female - now has a name!
She has been dubbed "April" in honour of the month she was hatched.
Thanks to everyone who submitted name suggestions! Each year, our Aviary staff release a Cayman Parrot chick bred and hatched on site here at Cayman Turtle Centre into the wild. April is currently being prepared for her release into the wild, which should take place toward the end of August.
April will join her sibling Loki, who was successfully released in 2013 and still occasionally visits his parrot family at the Aviary.
Aviary hand-feeding for visitors is from 10AM – 3PM daily.
