After 30-years in captivity, one of the oldest residents of the Cayman Turtle Centre has been released into the wild.
Sir Thomas Turtleton spent three decades at the centre, but to mark the Queen’s Jubilee was set free on Saturday. Crowds gathered to say goodbye to this old friend and with the help of a gentle shove from turtle Centre staff he took the tentative steps to a new life.
Weighing more than 600 pounds, Sir Thomas has been fitted with a tracking device to monitor his new adventures.
