Position Summary: To provide cross-functional support to the Infrastructure Department by assisting with the maintenance, repair, inspection, operation, and upkeep of the Centre's facilities, grounds, fleet, equipment, utilities, Aquatic Life Support Systems (ALSS), and related infrastructure assets. The Assistant Infrastructure Technician supports the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of infrastructure systems throughout the Centre while gaining experience across multiple technical disciplines.
General Purpose: Provides operational and maintenance support across Facilities & Grounds, Maintenance & Fleet, and ALSS & Utilities functions. The role assists with preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, grounds maintenance, fleet support, utility operations, inventory management, emergency preparedness, and special projects to ensure the continued safe and efficient operation of the Centre.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- General Infrastructure Support
- Assist with routine inspections, maintenance, repair, and upkeep of infrastructure assets throughout the Centre.
- Support daily operational activities across facilities, grounds, fleet, maintenance, and utility functions as assigned.
- Assist with preventive maintenance programmes and scheduled maintenance activities.
- Maintain tools, equipment, supplies, and work areas in a safe, clean, and organized condition.
- Complete assigned work orders, maintenance records, inspection reports, and operational logs.
- Facilities & Grounds Support
- Assist with building maintenance, painting, minor carpentry, minor plumbing, grounds maintenance, landscaping, irrigation systems, and general site upkeep.
- Assist with janitorial equipment maintenance, facility inspections, and beautification projects.
- Support event setup, breakdown, and logistical requirements for Centre activities and special events.
- Assist with inspections of buildings, pathways, visitor areas, staff facilities, and grounds to identify maintenance requirements and safety concerns.
- Maintenance & Fleet Support
- Assist with servicing, inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs of fleet vehicles, equipment, machinery, and infrastructure systems.
- Assist with monitoring vehicle conditions, maintenance schedules, and fleet documentation.
- Support equipment installations, repairs, and maintenance projects.
- Assist with maintaining inventory of tools, spare parts, lubricants, consumables, and maintenance supplies.
- ALSS & Utilities Support
- Assist with the operation, monitoring, maintenance, and repair of the Aquatic Life Support Systems (ALSS), seawater pumping systems, freshwater systems, generators, and utility infrastructure.
- Assist with servicing pumps, filters, valves, pipelines, and related mechanical equipment.
- Assist with monitoring water flow, utility systems, equipment performance, and operational readings.
- Support water management activities during routine operations and emergency situations.
- Emergency Preparedness and Operational Support
- Participate in hurricane preparedness activities, emergency response operations, and business continuity initiatives.
- Assist with storm preparation, equipment protection, cleanup, and operational recovery efforts.
- Provide support across multiple operational areas during emergencies and special projects.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Technical training, vocational certification, trade experience, or previous maintenance experience would be advantageous.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn facilities maintenance, fleet maintenance, utilities, and aquatic systems operations.
- Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, maintenance equipment, and workplace safety practices.
- Ability to perform manual labour and work safely in a variety of environments.
- Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's licence preferred.
- Must be PADI-certified or able to successfully obtain PADI certification.

PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT
The Assistant -Infrastructure & Facilities is expected to perform assigned duties safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established policies, procedures, and performance standards. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining attendance, productivity, safety compliance, and professional conduct consistent with organizational expectations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting, carrying, climbing, bending, digging, standing, and walking for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Work performed indoors and outdoors under varying weather conditions.
- Exposure to machinery, vehicles, water systems, construction activities, landscaping equipment, and maintenance operations.
- May be required to work in confined spaces, elevated areas, aquatic environments, and other operational settings.
- Availability to assist during emergencies, hurricanes, storms, and operational incidents.
- May be required to work irregular hours, weekends, and during emergency situations (e.g., hurricanes).
- Travel across large areas of the park as part of daily duties.
IMPACT: The Assistant -Infrastructure & Facilities contributes to the safe and reliable operation of the Centre's facilities, grounds, fleet, utilities, and aquatic systems. The role supports operational continuity, employee and visitor safety, animal welfare, customer experience, and the protection of organizational assets.
COMPLEXITY: The position involves a variety of routine and semi-skilled maintenance, operational, and support activities across multiple infrastructure disciplines. The incumbent must be able to adapt to changing priorities, follow established procedures, and apply sound judgment while working under the direction of senior personnel.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: This position requires proficiency in both written and spoken English to effectively communicate with team members, supervisors, suppliers, and guests. The role involves understanding and interpreting technical manuals, safety procedures, and maintenance documentation, as well as accurately recording daily activities and reporting issues. Clear communication is essential to ensure safe operations, efficient teamwork, and proper coordination during routine tasks and emergency situations.
HOURS OF WORK: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are on a rotational schedule from Monday to Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or as required according to operational needs (45-hour work week).
